#New gran turismo plus#
In GT Sport, there’s a Museum for every automotive brand included in the game – plus Lewis Hamilton, Michelin and the FIA. Within the trailer, there looks to be a timeline of the company’s major milestone, which in Gran Turismo parlance is called the ‘Museum’. Once again, a level of tuning detail that far surpasses previous iterations. There are also options for the overall braking system – including carbon – and the brake pads separately. Instead of having every element in a big list, it now looks to be broken down into tabs, with brakes falling under the ‘Drivetrain’ category alongside differential, clutch & flywheel and propeller shaft – indicated that all these will be upgradeable parts. There’s also a glimpse at the new Car Settings page. Outside of just brake parts, the options seems to be more detailed than before, specifically pertaining to the SLR, suggesting that the specificity has also been a goal of the Polyphony Digital development team and not just quantity. This is just within the ‘Racing’ tab too, we suspect more options are available within the four other tabs There’s never been as many brake options in a Gran Turismo game before. For the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, three brake setups were available for purchase: Racing Brake Pads, Racing Brake System (Slotted Discs), Racing Brake System (Drilled Discs). Then we see the Understeer Engineering again, this time with more plentiful options. The trailer, which you can watch above, also delivered many other juicy details about GT7 too, so let’s dive in. However, with this official announcement, if one were to speculate, don’t expect there to be different brands to be available, just Brembo.Īlso, it could open up a path for additional supplier partnerships for different parts on the run-up to launch, reminiscent of RiMS Racing in some ways. In the Understeer Engineering tuning section, a set of Sports Brake Pads was branded with the Brembo logo.

In a way, this was previously confirmed in one of the Gran Turismo 7 screenshots provided by Sony. So now we know, at least, that when it comes to brake upgrades, you’ll have the choice of a real-world brand.

It’s simply been a ‘fully-customisable transmission’ or ‘racing brake kit’. But in all previous Gran Turismo games, the parts have not been branded.

We’re hoping that this upgrade is a significant one though, so that we’ll be able to race more on the edge of our seats going forward.īecause if we’re being honest, racing is fun, but without the fear of spinning off and ruining the car there, GT has really lost an element of gameplay compared to its competition. However, GT7 also sees the return of the Tuning Shop, absent since 2013’s Gran Turismo 6. We didn’t see any damage featured in the trailer either, so there’s not a lot to go on here. However, on this subject, the Polyphony CEO has only stated that the damage will be “upgraded” when compared to GT Sport. Yamauchi has spoken to the fans about all things GT and has been our main source of information when it comes to GT7. Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has been a goldmine of information on GT7. Now, you could limit the damage to visual only, but you’d run into the realism issues again. Some would say that you’d deserve that, but that kind of incident seriously hurts the accessibility of GT. If you’re nearing the end of an endurance race and you spin out, wrecking or seriously damaging your car, your frustration would be through the roof. Those that are long-time players of the Formula 1 games by Codemasters will know what we’re talking about here.Īnother problem with enabling damage is related to longer and endurance races. The reasoning is simple as well, you don’t want your cars to be perceived as structurally weak or dangerous. “I don’t want that” would be their response every time. In the paperwork, it says that your cars will be susceptible to damage. That’s great exposure, you want to sign up, but there’s a problem. Polyphony want to feature some of your cars in the upcoming Gran Turismo game. Imagine for a second that you work high-up for a big car manufacturer. A SIMILAR ISSUE: GT’s problem could be the same as what the F1 games have faced in the past
